SWPPP for Construction Sites

Storm water runoff can cause significant harm to our rivers, streams, and lakes, and as a contractor, you are subject to an ever-increasing number of environmental regulations that have a major impact on your job's productivity and profitability.

If you are responsible for ensuring NPDES compliance for your construction site then Coyle SWPPP Professionals are here to help. The Ohio EPA NPDES Permit and ODOT Supplemental Specification 832 have specific requirements for SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) design and erosion and sediment control installation, maintenance and inspections. Lack of compliance with regulations can leave your company open to potential penalties, often resulting in major delays and fines.

A SWPPP is required by your construction general permit and will help you prevent storm water pollution while ensuring compliance. A SWPPP is more than just an erosion and sediment control plan. It includes all of the construction site operator's activities to prevent stormwater contamination, control sedimentation and erosion, and comply with the requirements of the Clean Water Act.

We will design the highest quality plan keeping in mind your approach to the project and schedule. Our designs utilize the BMPs that are most effective for your site and situation; saving you both time and money on installation and future maintenance. We design all our plans with AutoCAD and make sure they follow all the project specifications. Our SWPPP design services also include:

• Assistance in the preparation and submittal of the Notice of Intent (NOI) or the Co-Permittee NOI and the Notice of Termination (NOT) to the Ohio EPA
• On-site pre-construction meeting with project personnel to review the contents of and implementation of the SWPPP
• An inspection program that can occur weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, or as needed; whatever your budget will allow
• Revisions to the SWPPP are a part of our inspection services. This will ensure the most up-to-date plan, keeping you in compliance

Upon completion of the project, transfer of ownership, or other change we will assist in filing all applicable forms, such as the Notice of Termination (NOT), as necessary to minimize or omit the owners' liability under the Construction General Permit. We will also assist the site superintendent throughout the construction process to ensure proper deployment of BMPs.

The format and content of our SWPPPs have been approved by the EPA, Ohio Department of Transportation, and respective local authorities.

Our erosion and sediment control inspection program includes inspection of the site on a weekly basis as well as after a ½ inch or larger rain event, as required by the NPDES Permit. ODOT's Supplemental Specification 832 also requires these inspections be completed by the PE/CPESC Professional who certified the SWPPP or a certified inspector working under the direct supervision of the PE/CPESC. With each inspection a report is generated and any necessary revisions to the SWPPP will be made. This will ensure the most up-to-date plan, keeping you in compliance.

Alternatively, we can develop an erosion and sediment control inspection program specific to your needs, such as monthly, bi-monthly, or as needed. Updates and revisions to the SWPPP can also be incorporated as necessary.
